PORT ORANGE — A Spruce Creek Fly-In luxury home owned by not one, but two, NASCAR legends could be yours for a cool $1.295 million.

NASCAR team owner Richard Childress and his wife Judy have put their mansion at 1900 Seclusion Drive up for sale, confirmed the property's listing agent, Rachel McGrath, an agent with Premier Sotheby's International Realty.

'It's an incredible home. It used to belong to (NASCAR Hall of Fame driver) Mark Martin,' said McGrath. 'The Childresses are selling because they've got a 17,000-square-foot home in North Carolina and they're not spending any time here. They haven't been here since February (for the Daytona 500), but they love it.'

Business travel can be a grind, But for NASCAR drivers and race teams who are on the road for 36 races per year travel is unavoidable. If these teams had to rely on commercial airline schedules travel would be a nightmare, if not a logistical impossibility. That’s why most of the top tier drivers own private jets, and race teams operate fleets of small aircraft to transport pit crew members. Semi-retired NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. And his family were confirmed to have escaped a plane crash in Tennessee, officials said Thursday. First responders were alerted that Earnhardt’s private jet, a Cessna Citation, ran off the end of the runway after landing at the Elizabethton Municipal Airport at 3:38 p.m. Local time Thursday. BENOIT TESSIEREight private jets carrying India’s super wealthy—and potentially the coronavirus—landed in London ahead of the U.K.’s 4 a.m. Ban on travel from India, according to the London Times. Added India to its “red list” of pandemic-stricken countries.

The Childresses bought the home for $995,000 from Martin in 2013. The house is next door to another former NASCAR driver, Mike Skinner.

Martin had the four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath house custom built in 2002. It offers 4,793 square feet of living space, a large covered patio and a three-car garage.

The two-story home features a foyer with a sitting room and a curved staircase leading up to a second floor where several bedroom suites are located. The first floor includes the master bedroom suite as well as a great room, chef's kitchen and dining room and a covered patio that looks out on to a lake as well as a golf course.

'This is not a (aircraft) hangar home,' said McGrath. 'They (the Childresses) bought it for the view and the high quality construction.'

The Spruce Creek Fly-In community is a gated residential airpark that includes a 4,000-foot-long lighted runway and a GPS approach.

'This extraordinary home presents a unique opportunity to own private property in an exclusive fly-in community,' said McGrath. 'With its stunning interior design and sought-after location, this residence offers a unique living experience for a passionate aviator and discerning buyer.'

Ryan Adams, an agent with Adams, Cameron & Co. Realtors, said the Childress property could be especially appealing to prospective buyers who are NASCAR fans.

'We don't have many celebrity homes in our area since John Travolta left town several years ago,' said Adams, referring to the movie star whose home here was also in the Spruce Creek Fly-In community.

'I think there's a percentage of the market where that (the property's NASCAR connection) presents a 'wow' factor,' Adams said.

'As far as trying to sell a luxury home in the million-dollar-plus range, I can't imagine a better time,' he said. 'Our inventory is down and demand is up. 'We've had a domino effect just within the last month where a number of luxury homes have been put under contract.

'If you drive along John Anderson Drive in Ormond Beach right now, you'd see seven or eight sale pending or sold signs for riverfront homes all in the million-dollar range,' he said.
